Why I'm Running

When the GECDSB voted to restructure the RISE special education program — cutting 34.5 staff positions to help balance a multi-million dollar deficit — I watched parents pack that room. Not with talking points, but with real fear for their kids' futures. Some of them were pleading. And the board moved on anyway.

"I have two teenagers in this system, and it hit me hard: these aren't abstract decisions being made somewhere far away — they're decisions about kids I know, in schools my own kids walk into every day."

That's the moment I stopped being someone who just noticed, and became someone who decided to act. I'm running because parents deserve a real voice before the vote is cast — not a front-row seat to watch decisions happen to their children.

It's time to open the school board in every language.

As a parent of two teenagers, 13 and 14, attending public schools right here in Windsor Wards 3, 4, and 10, I have watched our current school board lose touch with the community. Facing a multi-million dollar deficit, the board voted to restructure vital classroom resources like the RISE special education program, cutting 34.5 staff positions — leaving vulnerable kids and frustrated families in the dark.

But for many families in downtown Windsor and Walkerville, the frustration goes even deeper. When the board changes policies or cuts programs, it happens inside a bureaucratic bubble. If you don't speak fluent English, or you aren't familiar with board politics, your voice is effectively erased from your child's education.

I'm running to change that.

Of Lebanese origin, I speak Arabic fluently, and I'm also fluent in Spanish. I know firsthand what it means to bridge different cultures. In a community as diverse as Wards 3, 4, and 10, parents shouldn't have to struggle past a language barrier just to find out what's happening in their child's classroom.

I am not a career politician. I'm an everyday parent who will bring direct, multilingual accountability to the boardroom — and make sure every mother, father, and guardian in our community is an active partner in our schools.

What I'll Work On

    Two-way channels for parents to raise concerns while decisions are still being shaped — not just a chance to react after they're final.

    No more staffing cuts to special education

    The board already cut 34.5 RISE staff positions to balance its budget. Vulnerable students shouldn't be the easiest line item to cut further when money gets tight.

    Transparency on spending and priorities

    Parents deserve to know where resources go and why, explained in plain language — before cuts land on their kids, not after.

    Consistency across every school in the ward

    No school in Ward 3-4-10 should be treated as an afterthought. Every kid deserves the same shot, regardless of which building they walk into.

    Keeping parents' elected voice on the board

    With trustee positions under provincial review and some seats already filled by appointment, I believe families should keep a direct, elected say in their children's education.

    Keep student achievement at the centre — literacy, numeracy, graduation, well-being, and preparation for postsecondary education, skilled trades, and employment.

What I Bring to the Table

Over a decade of management, negotiation, and accountability — brought to a board that needs more of all three.

Real management experience

Years running a sales team, hitting targets, and being personally accountable for results — four straight years of President's Club recognition for exceeding annual targets.

Negotiation & problem-solving

An international business background trained on sitting across from people with different priorities and finding a workable outcome — not just digging in.

A parent's perspective

I have two teenagers in this system. This isn't theoretical for me — it's my kids' school board too.

Steady under pressure

A decade-plus of handling difficult situations professionally, with a level head, not a reactive one.

Ward 3-4-10 is home to one of the largest Arabic-speaking communities in Windsor, and a growing Latin American community. Parents who aren't comfortable navigating the board in English shouldn't have to fight through a language barrier to be heard.
